Teach in Southwest Colorado!

Become part of a close-knit community in Ignacio schools

07/22/2024
We are seeking passionate staff members to serve our students.

In addition to one open teaching position, the Ignacio School District is seeking an athletic trainer and several coaches heading into the 2024-25 school year. The district is also looking to fill a number of bus driving positions and hopes to attract substitutes in several departments (teachers, cooks, custodians, and bus drivers).

Ignacio schools are interested in hiring passionate teachers and support staff members who are interested in working in a multicultural community where they strive to ensure that all students reach their potential and are best prepared for either college or a career.

The professionals who live and work in Ignacio reap the benefits of southwest Colorado’s world-class recreation opportunities and enjoy living in one of the most scenic and culturally rich areas in the United States.

Ignacio is located along the Pine River and is only a short distance away from a number of other rivers, lakes, and reservoirs that are all fed by runoff from the nearby San Juan and LaPlata Mountains. This small community is located within 55 miles of both the Durango Mountain Ski Resort (Purgatory) and Wolf Creek Ski Area and is only 15 miles from the world-renowned Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. There is a wealth of resources in the area for those who love water sports, cycling, skiing, fishing, hunting, hiking, and history.

Ignacio School District operates on a 4-day school week (Monday through Thursday) and offers free health, hearing, vision, and dental, including a Non-Stop Wellness card preloaded with $5,500. Staff members also benefit from PERA Retirement and American Fidelity insurance for additional coverage, and some school housing exists for staff members, but it is dependent upon availability.

The Ignacio School District invites dedicated educators to become part of a wonderful Bobcat family that cares deeply about the education of the children in this close-knit rural community.
